The offset on that air dial, holy balls xD I’ve had the KMoon 858D for a few years now, served me well thus far 🙂
STUPID LOUD MUSIC!! HEADPHONE USERS BEWARE!!!
I have one. I believe it’s temp is under rated. I go all the way up to 500 and seems good then. probably 400
The temperature indicated on 858D is in degree CELCIUS not Fahrenheit! You can fry the circuitboard by mistaking it as fahrenheit
Those helping hands are horrible. There are better options available like the Omnifixo.
Good video dude but can I suggest something shit can the music during the video way too loud. Its ok during the intro but after that shit can it
One "trick" that makes desoldering a little easier if you use solder wick / desoldering braid:
Cut yourself small pieces (maybe half an inch or 3/4") off the reel and hold them in place with tweezers. Discard once saturated.
If you keep the entire roll of desoldering braid attached, you have one huge hunk of copper there that will suck the heat away from your soldering iron quicker than anything. Depends on your iron of course.
@ImmodderNation 5:41 R;y,. you said so? I don’t think so, i own this hotair and it has issues with heat- hungry mobos… Sometimes I have to crank up temp. up to 410 degree C and wait 2-3 mins to remove the component, especially QFN with thermalpad…
I wonder if the 858D and the 898D rework stations are basically the same? There’s another video showing an 898D that burnt up. But, the reviewer did say that he used it for years with no problems. And I see that Amazon has dropped the price on the 858D from $ 89.99 to $ 39.99. At that price – WHO CARES as long as you can get a few years work out of it.
I have the LRT station with both heat gun and iron. Your video helped me conclude that it was not functioning correctly and it needed calibration. Brand new out of the box was low by 100 C. and since it only goes to 450 I was only hitting 350!! destroy 2 test chips before I figured it out. LRT 8586D. Once it was callibrated it poped the chips off like a pro!! Saved 50GB of my grandkids pics from the beginning of their lives. PRICELESS video my friend. Your video assured me that my device should be able to do the job and something else was wrong. THANKS AGAIN
Hi Sir, Good Morning or Good Evening, Can You teach me how to use a Hot Air Gun Rework Station(I have 958D hot air gun), to any components. Like what temp. Or what air flow??!
Thank you
Thankyou sir.a most exelkent video.clear and concise video.the best video.ive seen so far at last simeone thats actually gave guide to properly work by.thankyou so much indeed.
300 deg F? The display in in deg C!
Nice share. I like using cheap tool set too.
As a total newbie in the world of soldering, thank you for this review. Also I would like to thank people commenting tips&tricks!
Or you can use solder wick
How much do they cost?
This video saved a 4tb hard drive! Got a cheap station off ebay and a few parts, fixed the hard drive in like 5 minutes. Don’t plug hard drives into the orange sata ports on supermicro motherboards lol
Get rid of that Red weller soldering station. Its the worst soldering Iron i ever own.i have trow it in trash after i brough the t12 soldering station from aliexpress. Its changed my life. Literally.
as an engineer, it hurt when he kept calling it "PRINT circuit board" lol
useful footage starts around

you are welcome

Will this take off the analog sticks on a Sony ps5 controller?
Camera focus.
Hi Quality Glass Epoxy Cicuit Boards are tough to remove components without removing the trace.
I just picked this up. Thanks for the vid
Bro your video was using Amazon to sale this product 😅😂
what is minimum air position
Can this go down to 170 – 200 degrees?
Can you desolder components directly from large graphics card as GTX8800 using this hot air station without any bottom preheating?I would like to see this hard kind of tests. If it can does then its worth its money.
interesting.
Metcal MX-5220
How can I trust someone’s tips when their soldering iron’s tip is dirty as hell?
3:10 Not 300 Farenheit its 300 celsius or more, 400 recomended.
Make sure your using helping hands when your on top of very flammable cardboard lol
You did very well in your explanation. You know what you are talking about! I have been a Commercial TV High Technical Maintenanace Engineer for over 15.5 years +, I have done so much repair work on Sony. Ampex and Hitachi Tape Machines and Cameras back in the early 1980’s. I wish this was available back then when TV was still just analog. Nice to see a young person take such an interest in this. Great Presentation! Keep up the Good work!
Nice video Just a tip Put some heatstrink over the pcb holder clamps You can scratch and destroy pcbs bcz the metal teeths are pretty sharp Good luck!
Superfluous? I think you mean ubiquitous.
Where’s the Mod ?
I never considered using a heat station to remove a through-hole component. you risk removing a vital through-hole via in the process.
Really rubbish
but what if your solder iron can go up to 450celcius and the hot air rework also 450celcius wont that make the hot air not necessary in that case? since to remove the solder connection of cold joint you can still used back the solder iron to melt the join, and the components can dry off by air dried, so in this case theres no need for hot air rework then?
Yawn…..Moving on
Soldering iron is single target, Hot air gun is AoE.
Try a solder vacuum, save on solder braid

If I hadn’t to remove the excess solder first, it would be great. But this way, nah.
Anyway, good vid!
nice
Hi Sir, I am your new Subscriber, Can I ask a favor, How to use a Gordak 968D Digital Hot Air Rework Station??
Thank you
keep on going, you can do better
