"Down… down"?
Very excellent video. Short straight and to the point. Thank you for showing the proper way to use the tool. And also showing the different versions of the same tool.
12:27 Is it kanife, or knife?
Please, add it is Dinosaur tool. Todays wire strippers will in no way damage the core.
Your very well spoken with good info i am 75 in March and you show me thing I did not know thank you. Your not cutting the head your cutting thread body or thead shoulder if you will?
I like the explanation of the features. Well done. Right or wrong one thing I do on the hooks for the screws on switches and plugs is squeeze the wire tighter around the screw after it’s hooked on and I always turn it in the direction of tightening. Seems like I’ve had the wire push out going the other way.
Over 2 million views ! Wow !
Let me take this opportunity to share a scripture with yall.
Psalms 103:1 "Bless the LORD oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name ".
Okay, that’s great because I’ve been struggling with using the other kind.
The "wire grabbers" can be utilized similar to a surgeons’ clamps. For example, the common task of twisting together multiple stripped solid copper wires for making pigtails, group the stripped copper wires together and clamp with the grabber part of the tool, then twist the copper wires using a second set of, preferably larger, electrical pliers.
"Sizes or gauges"? For wire, what’s the supposed "difference"?
Thank you so much for these videos! They are very helpful for us who didn’t have the opportunity to learn this information from our parents. It is so much less expensive and so much more rewarding to do one’s own simple repair jobs around the house.
Excellent video.
5:14 12/2 NMD cable has 12 gauge hot and neutral, but 14 gauge ground. Generally, cables come with grounds that are one size smaller than the hots and neutral, except 14 gauge cables. This trick doesn’t work.
"…Instead of just using some cutters…"
This IS a cutter!
Excellent video As a 43year electrician I’ve used just about all of those at one time or another. My Personal Favorite Is also the Milwaukee 7in 1. your video should be shown in all first year apprentice classes great work!
Thanks bro ❤❤
I’m slow. I don’t understand what the difference between stranded and solid is. What do I do differently with the strippers? It’s the same hole?
Thanks man. I’m doing wire harness work on my car and have no room for error..
For making the hook, on the switch or the outlet, often there’s a marking that show how much wire you need to strip. That can come in handy for homeowners who don’t have the muscle memory for this sort of thing.
The constant refocusing nakes it hard to watch this video
Rule number 1: dont buy klein strippers anymore. They suck. They will cut wire but when you try to cut string they just fold the string over. I bought some milwaukees in the same shape as the klein curve ones and they cut string just fine. So klein is just overpriced overrated garbage
Not just for cutting copper wire; aluminium too.
"They don’t have hardly any of the other features…"?
OH! So they have a lot of them?
You are AWESOME. Now I understand why stranded wire always gives me such troubles. I’m not using the tool correctly. Thanks for the good lesson.
I got a chuckle at the title. When you work with these type of strippers as they have evolved over the last 40 years. Btw you should never rotate your strippers as you strip insulation off. You can ring the conductor causing a point of resistance.
Thank you!

What advantage does your 6-in-1 tool have over the 7 that made you want to buy both?
No electrician worth their pay would use those flimsy strippers to torque on the yoke side to side, to cut the ears off. A few of those and you’ll wonder why they randomly don’t cut well anymore, lmao. (it bends them, for all you people who ended up in construction for a reason)
Wow …cool …I didn’t know all that ! I’ve used strippers for years …thanks .
Just to satisfy my fellows Germans… Kenny-pex not nipex lol
Good video anyone whos learning.
The tear drop part of the stripper is used for crimping connectors.
What a great video, I learned a lot!
my dad told me that each side of the wire stripper are for 2 scale from 2 side of Earth, 1 for the East scale 1 for West scale
So as an electrician personally i find for residential the klein yellow "cable strippers" are the best because you can strip 14/2 cables and 12/2 cables aswell as the individual wires and they still have the functionaity of having the bolt shears, mostly i find you cant really beat them for all things residential
Why the "what are called…" for the 7-in-1 tool? That’s the company’s official term for them, is it not? Why not just say it directly?
Oh, one more thing: Did you ever look in your stripper manual for the function of what you’re calling a "wire grabber"? Do you think it’ll be even as easy to find as the thing about how "clicking your drill chuck back by one notch to ‘lock’ it" was?
Holy smokes man, please use manual focus. I really love your content, but the fight with (against?) the auto-focus in this video really made my head hurt 🙈😅
Thank you
Super beneficial tutorial ! Mine is like the red handled one in your picture as if looking at a clock, 10 or 11 o’clock. I’d like to see a tutorial on that. I may get one like you featured. I’ve often seen them. I could’ve used that bolt feature recently. Who knew ? I’m not very handy. But, I have a few tools and use them on occasion. I recently installed/changed three light fixtures.
Cool video, Nils; thanks.
Your autofocus had a stroke filming this video
"…And each one of these need to be cut a little bit differently…"
* Each _needs…._
Permission to use your good video in my class in a public school system, thank you
I am curious… Why would one remove the mouse ears on a light switch?
To pinch wire connectors without cutting them…
Great video
I would like to get to know my stripper in the champagne room in the back. 1:11
I do all of em with me pliers, you poofs
